I am here now because I was motivated by those of you that were vocal about your support. Brothers and sisters, I thank you greatly for it. At the risk of sounding boastful, I will say that in my career highlights as an electrician, I am not known for getting all the easy jobs. In fact, it has been consistently quite the opposite. You would not believe the number of obstacles that surface just to keep jobs from being successful. In the field we deal with customers, management, supply issues, manpower issues, working in remote areas, vehicular mishaps, I could go on and on not to mention the pressure.
The most extreme and recent example of this for me as G. F. was the SpaceX job some of you worked on down in Boca Chica. Hands down, that job couldn’t have been completed nowhere near on schedule without these key factors: maintaining a good relationship with the G.C., the support from the PM and most importantly all the L.U. 278 electricians that showed up and took care of business. As electricians we embodied a well-oiled machine amidst the chaos of that place. It was moving to see how we came together as a team to achieve what at times felt impossible. For that I am eternally grateful. Every day we were tested but there was nothing anyone could throw at us. We ate together, lived together and took care of each other. Similarly, at its core that's what our local should be about: leadership invested in the good keeping of industry relations, taking care of members and looking out for one another as a solid team while making some real money.
